Chance-Vought F4U-1D, Hasegawa 1/72

Model, text and images by Luca Cinacchio

This is a model that i completed more than a couple of years ago, but that i was too lazy to bring in the "photo-set" organized in my kitchen to take some photos (so this is the reason because why in the images you can see some dust, regardless of how carefully i tried to remove it.
Another strange thing is how the clear part of the canopy changed in these 2-3 years. I remember well that the canopy was perfectly clear; but after 2-3 years exposed at the sunlight in the living room, as you can see its "color" changed in a sort of yellowish-grenish.

The kit is in my opinion (as often happens with Hasegawa) overpriced and overrated; it us old, detail is not the state of the art, the cockpit is very poor. But it can still turn out in a fun building.

Colors used are a custom mix of Vallejo Aircolor. An intense weathering followed, used enamel washes and OPR (Oil Paint Rendering).
To shoot the photos I placed it on a small dio base that i built for another model.
