Zvezda releases TU-95 1/144

The Russian company Zvezda is expanding is range of kits in 1/144 scale. Indeed, the Tupolev Tu-95 bomber, nicknamed “Bear” by NATO, is hitting the shelves right now.

The kit 77 parts, and the finished model will be 35,40 cm. long despite it scale.

The  Tu-95 bomber was the most successful strategic bomber of the Soviet Union. The plane entered service in 1956. The design proved so reliable, that it continues to serve in the Russian Air Force to this day.

The Tu-95 is powered by four enormous Kuznetsov engines, delivering over 12,000 horsepower each. These engines are so powerful that a variant on the design, the Tu-114, holds the world record for the fastest propeller-driven aircraft. This is the only turboprop-powered strategic bomber still in use today.

This iconic plane of the Cold War can be modified to serve a variety of combat roles, including maritime patrol, cruise missile deployment, and even delivery of nuclear payloads.
