King Tiger Panzer Kampfwagen VI, Tamiya 1/35

Model, text and images by Jan Willem Kluen

Type: Panzer Kampfwagen VI Tiger II "Königs Tiger" (Sd.Kfz 182) Serien Turm
Scale: 1:35
Manufacturer: Tamiya (#35164)
Paints: Tamiya, Vallejo, AK Interactive

I wanted to make a proper base/diorama, but I had no time left, so this is a bit improvised.
Note on some close-up pictures: according to testimonies the 332 was up for transport after being captured by the Allied forces, but the wheels and tracks were frozen. They mobilized it again by creating a controlled fire at the sides. Reference pictures show the fire damage (soot) on the sides. I tried to recreate that on the left front-side.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this build, being my first armour project ever. My only comment on this kit is that the material to create the exhaust covers are too fine; they clog up with paint to fast, however careful I worked. Next time I'll use some PE-add-ons.

Anyways, I hope you like it. Feedback and tips is more than welcome!
