Panther G Night Fighting, Dragon 1/35

The Panzer V Panther (shorter name for Panzerkampfwagen V Panther or Sd.Kfz. 171) was a medium tank developed and produced during the Second World War, in service from the first half of 1943 to the end of the conflict in Europe with the Berlin battle.

It was designed as countermeasure for the Soviet T-34, and to replace the older Panzer IV and Panzer III.
The initial vehicles were plagued by mechanical problems, but when these were fixed, the Panther proved to be perhaps the best WWII tank, thanks to the combination of speed, armor, armament.
Some late G model were equipped with infrared night visors and lights, and this is the model depicted by the kit.

THE KIT
This is a kit that remind us of the time when Dragon was not yet the leading brand in the market of tanks kit. Indeed it was released as Shanghai/Dragon Imperial Series in 1997, and in terms of accuracy, fitting, etc, it is not comparable with the present Dragon kits.

The link are not Magic Tracks or DS tracks, but the old classic single tracks on the sprue.
For the model I selected a camo scheme not so common, withe the German dark yellow as a background and green spots surrounded by a brown border. I used Humbrol paints, because the enamels offer the best control when airbrushed, and indeed the brown borders required maximum control to be airbrushed.
