TBF Avenger, Academy 1/72

Model by Luca Cinacchio

The Grumman TBF Avenger was a torpedo bomber, single engine, with low wing, developed at the beginning of the '40s from Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation.
It became the standard torpedo bomber for the US Navy, starting from June 1942 and until the end of the Second World War.
In the same period it was used also by the British Fleet Air Arm and from the New Zealand Air Force.

The Avenger had three crew members: pilot, turret gunner and radioman/bombardier/ventral gunner. One .30 caliber machine gun was mounted in the nose, a .50 caliber (12.7 mm) gun was mounted right next to the turret gunner's head in a rear-facing electrically powered turret, and a single .30 caliber hand-fired machine gun mounted ventrally
After the conflict, because of the huge surplus of units available, the Avenger was adopted from many air forces all over the world, concluding its career with the air forces of Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Netherlands, Uruguay.

THE KIT
The Academy is a nice 1/72 scale kit. It has recessed panel lines, no flash, good fitting, and it easy very easy to assemble, with clear and simple instructions to follow. The level of detail for the interior is not astonishing, but it still ok for the scale.
To paint my model I used Humbrol enamel colors, doing my own mix.
