Amazing... just amazing!
I am truly impressed by this model: you transformed a "standard" (albeit very good) kit, in an unique masterpiece. We can just learn from your skill. Thanks for sharing your job!
F4U-1 Corsair Bird cage
Impressive build, I love it!
I just have one question, I also am building the same plane but in 48 scale. I've always thought that this particular Corsair wore a tri-color scheme when on the USS Bunker Hill. Is that scheme provided by Tamiya?
About F4U-1 color scheme from Tamiya
Sorry! I just don't know what scheme from Tamiya. I was decide to choose the color scheme. because the box scheme from Tamiya. Since 1943. U.S Marine Corps VMF-213, Munda, Solomon Islands. Thanks.
Tim,
Tim,
VF-17 started out with blue-gray over gray Corsairs. They took these aboard Charger for carrier qualifications, in spring of 43. Before they went on Bunker Hill for her shakedown that summer, the airplanes were repainted in the three-tone scheme, except for the area under the rear-view windows which stayed blue-gray. The all-white codes are for the three-tone scheme; the original BG/G had the "17-F-" in black and the individual aircraft number in white on the fuselage.
